Winter - "The Greatest Snow on Earth"

One of the wonderful things about the Park City area is its mountains. You have so many choices! Come for a week and you can ski or snowboard a different mountain every day. You’ll never get bored with the variety of terrain, the excitement of finding new trails and the spectacular views. If you want the convenience and comfort of skiing the same mountain, simply drive 7 minutes to Park City Mountain Resort or take the free shuttle, hop on the lift and spend your days getting to know the beautiful mountain that overlooks your home away from home. Either way you’ll love your options for Park City area’s skiing.
Within Park City proper, there are 3 mountains; Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort and The Canyons Resort. Within a 40 minute drive, you can ski 4 different resorts in Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons; Alta, Brighton, Snowbird or Solitude. Within a 60 minute drive, you can ski Robert Redford’s Sundance.  Park City Mountain Resort

PCMR is located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, is Utah’s largest ski area, both in terms of skiable acreage and lift capacity, is best known for its variety of terrain and can be characterized as a “cruiser’s paradise”. PCMR is consistently ranked as one of the top ten winter resorts year after year by SKI magazine. It has a $10 million snowmaking system that guarantees excellent early and late- season conditions over 475 acres.  Night skiing is offered 7 nights a week from Christmas through March.  Its Kids Mountain School offers ski instruction for children ages 3 to 13 and snowboard instruction for children ages 7 to 13.

 Deer Valley Resort

DVR is known for its exceptional customer service, gourmet food, manicured trails and the highest level of comfort and pampering in a ski resort. Attendants even help you unload your skis from your car! It was ranked the #1 ski resort in North America in 2004 by the readers of SKI magazine. It was also the home of the Olympic slalom, combined slalom, aerial and mogul events in 2002. DVR offers 3 options for children’s programs; Children’s Ski lessons for ages 3 to 12, Children’s Center for non-skiing children ages 2 months to 12 years, and Teen Escape for teenagers ages 13 to 18.

 The Canyons Resort

The Canyons is Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort and one of the five largest in the United States with 3,500 acres and 8 separate mountains. It has lots of trails of every level and good tree skiing too! TCR offers 3 options for children’s programs; Perfect Kids Ski School for children ages 2 to 12, Perfect Turn Teen Clinics for children ages 13 to 17 and Little Adventure’s Children’s Center for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.

 Alta

Alta is known for its world-class skiing and unsurpassed snow and beauty, but is a no-frills resort with few high-speed lifts to whisk you up the mountain. There is plenty of excitement for advanced and expert skiers and may not be the best choice for beginners. It offers snowcat skiing, in Grizzly Gulch bowl above Alta, for expert and advanced skiers. Alta and Snowbird are connected via trails and you may purchase an Alta/Snowbird lift ticket and enjoy the two resorts’ combined terrain.

 Brighton

Brighton has two ‘sides’ – the Majestic side with narrow trails winding amidst the evergreens and the Millicent side with cliffs, bowls and wide-open spaces. It has the most extensive tree skiing of the four Cottonwood Canyons resorts. Solitude and Brighton are connected via trails and you may purchase a SolBright pass and enjoy the two resorts’ combined terrain.

Snowbird is a great choice for families and resort aficionados. It has breathtaking runs and incredible scenery on a huge mountain with not too many people. Snowbird and Alta are connected via trails and you may purchase an Alta/Snowbird lift ticket and enjoy the two resorts’ combined terrain.

Solitude is known for its uncrowded spacious runs, tight glades and steep rock-lined chutes and 400 acres of remote terrain on the back side of the mountain. Solitude and Brighton are connected via trails and you may purchase a SolBright pass and enjoy the two resorts’ combined terrain.

Sundance is one of the best lesser-known ski areas. It is much smaller than the 3 PC area mountains, and is known for its uncrowded slopes. Note: call ahead to ensure that Sundance is not having a BYU ski day to avoid the college crowd.

Quick START Vacation Program

 

Park City’s Quick START (Ski Today and Ride Today) Vacation Promotion allows visitors flying into the Salt Lake City International Airport to receive one same-day complimentary lift ticket for the day they arrive at any of Park City’s three resorts, Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort or The Canyons Resort. Summer - "The Summer Playground for Everyone"

Park City Mountain Resort

 

PCMR offers a wide variety of activities on the mountain during the summer. In addition to chairlift-accessed hiking and mountain biking, you can also enjoy the Diggler Scooters, horseback rides and miniature golf. It’s a great place for families of all ages to spend an afternoon, or even a whole day. The kids will love the ZipRider, alpine slide, climbing wall, human maze and the legacy launcher bungee bounce. And for little ones, there is a merry-go-round, kiddie car ride and choo-choo train.

Deer Valley Resort

 

DVR offers chairlift-accessed hiking, mountain biking and scenic rides. Their white-glove service extends to their Deer Valley Mountain Bike School which offers mountain bike rental, instruction and guided tours. They also offer a summer adventure camp for kids 1 – 12 year s old.

Snowbird

 

Snowbird offers many activities from the top of the mountain. Once you ride the aerial tram to the 11,000 ft. summit, you may continue your mountain adventure via hiking, mountain or scooter biking, professionally guided ATV tours or horseback rides. They also have many activities for children including an alpine slide, ZipRider, EuroBungy and climbing wall.

Solitude Mountain Resort

 

Solitude offers chairlift-accessed hiking and mountain biking, of course, but they also have a new way of touring the mountain - the Diggler Mountain Scooter, a cross between razor street scooters and a mountain bike (ages 10+). Solitude also has an 18-hole disc golf course (Frisbee golf) at 9000 ft.!

Sundance

 

Sundance offers chairlift-accessed hiking and mountain biking. You may eat in the restaurant or stop by their in-house deli and pick up a lunch to go for your adventure on the mountain. And don’t forget to check out the Sundance shop!
